Greyson Update
Greyson is doing well and staying busy.(photo) He is doing great in school, reading everything; even the warning on the air dryer. He is still in gymnastics and karate. He has been doing well in both and graduated to a yellow belt for his age group.
Greyson (photo)has joined the Cub Scouts and really enjoys meeting with the other scouts. He is a member of pack 84 in the Mobile Area Council. There are 10 to 12 boys that regularly attend the den meetings, so that can be fun trying to handle a dozen 7 year olds. Luckily there are several parents that help out. Greyson earned his first badge which is the Bobcat badge. He and the other (photo)scouts are in the process of earning their second badge, the Tiger Cub badge. They have to earn 15 beads for different tasks to merit the Tiger Cub badge. Greyson has five so far.
The scouts in Greyson’s den got to tour a Coast Guard base for one meeting. One of the fathers is friends with a pilot who was able to show the scouts the HU-25 Guardian plane and some helicopters, the HH-60 Jayhawk and H-65 Dolphin. He also showed them computer based flight simulators, which are out of this world; XBOX has nothing on these simulators. We where allowed to go into the simulator cockpit as trainees were in the middle of a lesson. When you looked out the window, it really seemed like you were out over the ocean. You could even feel movement. The kids also got to sit in some helicopters, so now they all want to be a pilot. They really enjoyed the tour and so did the parents!

Weekend Fun
Hope(photo) everyone had a Happy Halloween. We had a busy one. Greyson started off Friday by having a party at school showing off his bat costume to all of the students. We finished by craving some pumpkins Friday evening. Saturday we went to the South Alabama football game and it was all Jaguars. The first 2 plays for the Jag offense were passes for touchdowns. They ended the game with a 64 to 6 victory. We ended the night handing out candy to all the trick or treaters. Sunday we went to the fair and had a great time spending all our money.

Jags football is here!
These(photo) are late being posted but we went to the very first University of South Alabama football game back on the 5th of September. A group of friends went in and bought season tickets. Here are a few photos of the game which the Jags won easily over Hargrave Military Academy 30 to 13. GO JAGS!

Summer Time
Here are some different photos of Greyson and some of his activities over the summer so far. We have had a wonderful time watching the Mobile Baybears this season. (photo)It has been a wild time trying to keep up with the roster; there have been 4 or 5 Baybears to be called up at different times to the major league team this year. Greyson has more fun playing and running with the kids out on Baybear Mountain. He is the smallest in the photos. When the TN Smokies came to town we were able to met and get an autograph of the manager and Hall of Fame player, Ryne Sandberg.
We also visited the Costes clan in Indianapolis in early June for Monte’s 40th birthday and as you can see from the photos he is still a kid. Monte and Carter had to reenact scenes from Star Wars at his birthday lunch. Later that day the surprise party started and everyone had a great time. Even the local fire (photo)department showed up in case the candles on the birthday cake got out of control. No worries the inferno was put out with no issues.
We also went to the Indianapolis Zoo which we thought Greyson would really enjoy. We tried to get Greyson to pet a shark, but he was not going to have that. He would be ready to do it but at the second he would pull his hand back, I guess you cannot blame him. The main problem was that it was so hot the animals were not moving around so we did not get to see a lot of them. We did go to the dolphin show and that was really good and Greyson thought they were “cool”.
(photo) This soccer season is over and the Flames finished second in the tournament with a 1-0 defeat. Once the kids got their trophies the second place finish was all but forgotten.
The last photo is of Greyson’s cousin Matt who graduated from the University of South Alabama this past semester.

Soccer Part III
The (photo)Flames were off to a quick start with 2 goals scored by you guessed it, Conner! The score was 2-0 by the end of the first half with Greyson not seeing much action, so he picked grass and danced around to keep himself warmed up.
During the third quarter the "Red Team" came back and scored 2 goals, one of which went in off of the goal post at an odd angle. Abigail is doing very well as a defender. She kept the other team from taking a goal shot several times and put the ball in play for the Flames.
(photo) The game looked to end in a tie with a lot of action happening at the Red Team's goal. The Flames were finally able to score two more hard fought goals before the end of the game for a 4-2 final.

The Great Hunt of 2009
This year (photo)Greyson hunted easter eggs at school the Friday before Easter. The goal was for each kid to find a dozen eggs. The result was funny in that you would see a kid run past a pink egg laying on a bench, because they saw a green egg in a bush. Hope everyone had a great Easter.

Make Up Game
This was a makeup game played on a chilly Monday evening. Greyson was goalkeeper again and did very well by not allowing any goals in a 2-0 win over the "Green Team" as Greyson called them. Once again Greyson's team mate, Conner, scored the 2 goals for the Flames with the help of Trip, Austin and Trevor. Other team mates, Katy, Abigail and Claire did well in defender positions helping to clear the ball out of the Flames backfield.

Greyson's Soccer Debut
Some of you may know that we signed Greyson up for soccer this spring. He is a member (photo)of the 4-6 year old, team Flames at West Mobile County Park. Greyson is number 11. Well he played his first game, against the Buccaneers, Saturday the 3rd and it was a joy to watch. For some reason Greyson is all about playing goalkeeper. He started at keeper and allowed one goal in the opening minutes of the game; which it must have been nerves because after that he became a human vacuum and stopped everything else that came his way. That’s my boy!
While the action was at the other end of the field, Greyson was able to entertain himself by singing and dancing. He did decide before the end of the first half to run out to the middle of the field to tell his coach that he wanted to kick the ball; thankfully the ball was in play at the other end of the field. Well, the coach moved Greyson to a forward position, which does not really matter because all the kids chase the ball around. The third quarter went by pretty (photo)fast and Greyson was so close to scoring a goal but it went just wide of the right side goal post. The Buccaneers did score a second goal. In the fourth quarter Greyson was back in the keeper spot to finish up the game. The game ended 2 to 1 in favor of the Buccaneers, with Conner scoring the only goal for the Flames.

Under Armour Senior Bowl 2009
Saturday Jan 24th was the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl. Thanks to Heather and Dave for the tickets and tent passes. Rebecca, Stacey and I went down and had a great time with Dave and Heather. The Senior Bowl tents were catered by Rousso's Restaurant and kept everyone warm when the weather got a little cooler. The South won the game with a 35-18 victory over the North. Mobile's own Pat White did a good job as quarterback throwing a 39-yard TD and receiving the MVP award. Alabama's John Parker Wilson was named the Offensive Player of the game. Other players that had a good game were RB Kory Sheets of Purdue, CB Alphonso Smith of Wake Forest and QB Rhett Bomar from Sam Houston State.

Allstate Sugar Bowl 2009
Some friends of mine and I were able to get tickets to the 75th Sugar Bowl at the Superdome. So Keith, Jeb, Mike and myself went to New Orleans and stayed at Harrah's New Orleans Hotel. We thought we were going to have a great time watching the Crimson Tide take on Utah. We did have a great time up until the kickoff; after that it was pretty much all Utah. They were able to do whatever they wanted for most of the game. The game ended with Utah winning 31-17. The Tide did not have to many highlights other than Dont'a Hightower's striping of the ball, which setup a Glenn Coffee touchdown and Javier Arena’s 73-yard punt return for a touchdown. Congratulations Utah!

Christmas Photos
H(photo)ere are photos from Christmas. We had a good holiday and enjoyed being able to visit with family members. Greyson has more toys so he is happy. (photo)Santa left a pile of goodies and everyone else chipped in too. His favorites so far have to be his Geo Trax train set, video game console, his Plant Heroes space ship, Playmobil pirate ship and the broad game Mouse Trap. I guess we need to invest in rechargeable batteries, because he is trying his best to drain the ones we have now. There are also some really good photos that Christy took of Greyson and his cousin Claire playing in the leaves that we were trying to get up for the grandparents.

Saints vs Falcons
T(photo)hanks to Mike and Pat for the spare ticket to the New Orleans Saints game versus the Atlanta Falcons on Dec 7th. It was a great game and the Saints came out on top with a 29 to 25 victory. It was the first time I had been to the Superdome for an NFL game. Drew Brees threw TD passes to Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas, who also ran 5 yards for a TD. The Falcon’s rookie Matt Ryan had a good game too; he threw for a TD and ran 12 yards for another TD. Michael Turner also scored for Atlanta with a 5 yard run. The pictures are from my cell phone, so sorry about the quality, just showing the view from the seats.
